This is the end. Hold your breath and count to ten. Feel the earth- yeah, yeah. There's nothing like some Adele-drama. But actually, there's no need to let the sky fall, but to turn our heads towards Bella Italia. Milan Fashion Week kicks off today and here's my last outfit of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week New York. It's easy, it's girly, it's oh so cute! And THE SHOES, I truly heard one screaming and pointing and eye popping. Funny! Still don't know whether that's a good thing or not as, admitted, they do look - let's say - different. But hey, it's New York f**king Fashion Week, it's the "circus of fashion", if you will.
And yes, Sabrina, I definitely think one gets 'dressed up' for the simple reason of being forced to put more thoughts into outfits than one may well do on an ordinary day as one can't bring her or his whole closet to New York or Paris or, you name it -- like if you're not living in one of those fashion metropolises, which - sad, but true - I don't -- Still, what's the harm? For me, dressing for fashion week's like getting dressed for a night out: even if you wear the same good old denim pants you wear every day at uni you change your boots to heels, put a brighter lipstick on or maybe wear some accessories that usually would be too loud for an ordinary office day.
Of course, has to be said, there always are some funny creatures around seeking for some seconds of attention -- wouldn't want to say fame -- but then again, who are we to judge? Of course, it's flattering to spot oneself among the "best street stylers" in various magazines or on well known blogs - print or online, who does even care? Of course, it's flattering to be literally pulled over -- while walking crosswalks and trying hard to look cool and as if you just don't care -- by some style hunter asking for a petit petit picture of you. Peacocks are just trying hard, if you will - damn it, it's 2013!
Outfit: shoes Miu Miu, pants AG, sunnies illesteva x Zac Posen, pullover Acne, coat Atos Lombardini, bag Coccinelle
Are they, meaning peacocks the new bad sheep? And are discriminations in fashion this year? Couldn't yet see a hint on the runways, though. Also, just so you know, Menkes, actually, that's how many editors, too, became famous even in non-fashion-circles, whether because of their French sense of unbearable coolness or their love for crazy head pieces, they all got street-style-photographed (is that one word yet?). Oh and by the way, who does actually want to look like a black crow? No, but seriously, from all animals I can even think of, that's truly the least I would like to be associated with. And still, that - meaning any kinds of birds - is just not the point, which all the more is Menkes' "if fashion is for everyone, is it fashion?" issue. It's an attack on bloggers, ordinary people who force their way to enter the fashion scene and a critique on those open gates. Menkes may be all in for gatekeepers but there's a new generation knocking 'em down. We may be loud, but we're here to stay. Speaking of which, that's still a good read! This one too, very honest!
Now what do you think? I'd love to hear what you have to say - speak up, leave a comment!
Have great days everyone!
xx, A.
